Alfred Philippe Roll (1846-1919) was a French painter, a pupil of Gérôme and Bonnat. He is known for his large Naturalist canvases of popular subjects, such as The Fête of 14 July 1880 or Manda Lamétrie, Farmer's Wife, and for his portraits. A co-founder of the Société nationale des beaux-arts in 1890, he later became its president.
