Charles-François Daubigny (1817-1878) was a French painter and printmaker of the Barbizon School, regarded as a forerunner of Impressionism. He is best known for his landscapes of the banks of the Oise, the Seine and the Normandy coast, painted directly from nature. He also stayed in London, where he painted the Thames and St Paul's Cathedral.
