Works by Henri Fantin-Latour (1836-1904), in the public domain, each linked to its record in the museum that holds it. Born in Grenoble and trained in Paris, Fantin-Latour painted the group portraits of the avant-garde (Homage to Delacroix, 1864; A Studio at Les Batignolles, 1870; By the Table, 1872), exhibited for more than thirty years flower and fruit still lifes that were in great demand in England, and from 1876, under the spell of the music of Wagner, Berlioz and Schumann, composed mythological and dreamlike visions. Only works that the museums attribute to him without reservation, and of which a freely reusable photograph exists, are included: CC0 files from open-data museums, public-domain photographs or photographs under a free licence from Wikimedia Commons, whose origin is given on the page of each work. The titles are those of the museums, with their translation.
