Works by Jan Toorop (1858-1928), in the public domain, each linked to its record in the museum that holds it. Born in Purworejo, in Java, then a Dutch colony, Toorop lived mostly in the Netherlands, Belgium and England: a Pointillist painter in the late 1880s, then a great draughtsman of Symbolism (The Three Brides, 1893), he turned to religious art after 1905. Only works that the museums attribute to him without reservation, and of which a freely reusable photograph exists, are included: public-domain photographs or photographs under a free licence from Wikimedia Commons, or CC0 files from the Rijksmuseum, whose origin is given on the page of the work.
