Works by January Suchodolski (1797-1875), in the public domain, each linked to its record in the museum that holds it. An officer in the Polish army, he took part in the uprising of 1830-1831 before devoting himself to painting; he studied in Rome under Horace Vernet and became the great painter of Napoleon's Polish legions, of the uprising and of Polish history. Only works that the museums give to him without reservation are included, photographed by the museums themselves, which place their images in the public domain: the National Museum in Warsaw, the National Museum in Kraków and the National Museum in Szczecin, on the Polish museums' portal "W muzeach". The paintings are shown cropped to the canvas, without their frames. The titles are those of the museums, with their translation.
