Works by Jean-Baptiste Vanmour (1671-1737), in the public domain, each linked to its record at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, which holds them. Born in Valenciennes, Vanmour settled in Constantinople around 1699 and became the painter of the European ambassadors, above all of the Dutch ambassador Cornelis Calkoen: audiences with the sultan, ceremonial meals, wedding festivities, dervishes, views of the Bosphorus and portraits of great dignitaries of the Ottoman Empire. The images are shown cropped to the painting, without frame or scanning border. Only works that the Rijksmuseum attributes to Vanmour without reservation are included (the small figures from his workshop, given to the "workshop of Jean Baptiste Vanmour", are left out), and of which a public-domain photograph exists on Wikimedia Commons, whose origin is given on the page of the work. The titles are those of the museum, with their translation.
