Works by Jean-Simon Berthélemy (1743-1811), in the public domain in France and across the European Union, each linked to its record in the institution that holds it (for the three church paintings in Laon, Senlis and Châlons-en-Champagne, to the French Ministry of Culture record). Born in Laon, winner of the Royal Academy of Painting's first grand prize in 1767, he was a painter of history, portraits and decorative schemes, and curator of the Musée central des arts from 1798 to 1802. Only works that the institutions attribute to him without reservation and for which a free photograph of at least 900 pixels on the short side exists are shown. The photographs are faithful reproductions of flat works (Wikimedia Commons files: public domain, CC0 or CC BY-SA with the photographer's name). Titles are those of the institutions, with their translation.
