Works by Joos van Cleve (c. 1485-1540), in the public domain, each linked to its record in the museum that holds it. A painter active in Antwerp, he left altarpieces, many Virgin and Child panels and the portraits of Francis I and of Eleanor of Austria, queen of France. Only works that the museums give to him without reservation (no workshop, follower or copy), and of which a freely reusable photograph exists, are included: files from museums that release their images openly (Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art) or, for the other museums, a public-domain photograph from Wikimedia Commons, whose origin is given on the page of the work. Many paintings, such as those in the Louvre or the Royal Collection Trust, are waiting until their museum record can be opened. The titles are those of the museums, with their translation.
