José Moreno Carbonero (1858-1942) was a Spanish painter, born in Málaga and died in Madrid, noticed very young by his teacher Bernardo Ferrándiz. A history painter (Prince Charles of Viana, 1881; The Entry of Roger de Flor into Constantinople, 1888), he was also a sought-after portraitist of the nobility and the upper middle class, and a painter of picturesque scenes and views of Venice.
