Works by Joseph Blanc (1846-1904), in the public domain, each linked to its record in the institution that holds it: the Musée d'Orsay, the Petit Palais and the Musée Carnavalet (through Paris Musées), and the Panthéon, a monument managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux. Born in Paris, a pupil of Émile Bin and Alexandre Cabanel, he won the Prix de Rome for painting in 1867 and taught at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1889. He decorated the Panthéon with a cycle devoted to Clovis, of which the Battle of Tolbiac is part, and worked for the Opéra-Comique and the Paris city hall, for which the Petit Palais holds sketches. He also drew the stamps of the Type Blanc series. Only works that the institutions give to him without reservation, and of which a freely reusable photograph exists, are included; the origin of each photograph is given on the page of the work. The titles are those of the institutions, with their translation.
