Works by Kurt Schwitters (1887-1948), who died on 8 January 1948: they have been in the public domain in France and the European Union since 1 January 2019. Collages and Merz pictures, lithographs and typographic posters published online by the museums that hold them, each linked to its museum record. The photographs come from the museum itself when it publishes them under an open licence, otherwise from Wikimedia Commons (public domain, or a Creative Commons licence with the photographer's name). Many gallery photographs are cropped to the work. Only flat or nearly flat works photographed from the front are included; reliefs, sculptures and the Merzbau are left out.
