Works by Laurits Tuxen (1853-1927), in the public domain, each linked to the page of the museum that holds it. A pupil of Bonnat in Paris, based in Copenhagen, he became one of the founders of the Skagens Museum and a favourite painter of several European courts: Queen Victoria, Edward VII, George V and Tsar Nicholas II commissioned from him their weddings, coronations and family portraits, which he painted on the spot, in churches and palaces. In Skagen he painted the North Sea, the fishermen, children on the beach and summer festivals. Only works that the museums give to him without reservation, and of which a freely reusable photograph of at least 900 pixels exists, are included: the works of the Skagens Museum and of the Hirschsprung Collection, which have no online record for each work, are linked to the museum page that names the artist. The titles are those of the museums, with their translation.
