Works by Rogier van der Weyden (c. 1399-1464), in the public domain, each linked to its record in the museum that holds it. Born in Tournai and settled in Brussels in 1435 as the city's official painter, he renewed religious painting through the intensity of its emotion and portraiture through the subtlety of the gaze. Only works that the museums give to him without reservation (no workshop, follower or copy), and of which a freely reusable photograph exists, are included: files from museums that release their images openly (National Gallery of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp) or, for the other museums, a public-domain photograph from Wikimedia Commons, whose origin is given on the page of the work. Several altarpieces, such as the Prado Descent from the Cross or the Braque Triptych in the Louvre, are waiting until their museum record can be opened. The titles are those of the museums, with their translation.
