Works by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (月岡芳年, 1839-1892), in the public domain: woodblock prints, from the heroes of ancient wars to the ghosts and demons of legend, from the beauties of the Meiji era to kabuki actors and the moonlit scenes of his last years, each linked to its page at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which holds them and publishes their photographs in the public domain. A print exists in several impressions; for each composition, the site shows a single impression. Triptychs are shown whole, as the museum photographs them. The crime scenes of the illustrated newspapers of the 1870s, also held by the museum, have not been included. The titles are those of the museum, in English, with their translation.
