Ștefan Luchian (1868-1916) fue un pintor rumano y una figura destacada de la pintura moderna rumana a principios del siglo XX. Es conocido sobre todo por sus ramos de flores (anémonas, crisantemos, claveles), sus paisajes del campo rumano, sus retratos y sus escenas de la vida del pueblo. Formado en Bucarest, después en Múnich y en París, fue uno de los fundadores del grupo Tinerimea artistică. Gravemente enfermo en sus últimos años, siguió pintando casi hasta su muerte.
